Our Story
by John Jones

Rachel came over to our apartment at the beginning of winter semester for a game night with me and my roommates. To be honest, I didn't even really notice her....classy huh?
A couple weeks later she started coming to our Thursday movie nights. I still didn't have any idea who she was. She was just that one shy, sometimes-funny, girl that kept coming over. I didn't even know her name for the first five weeks. I could totally tell she was checking me out all the time though.  **creeper** ---insert Rachel's comment here "whatever, you totally liked it..." --- anyways.....
Then, at the end of the semester our ward had a closing social. We started talking in line for the burgers and didn't stop for the next 6 hours. We talked about everything from my Superman belt buckle to her addiction to icebreaker mints. At curfew, I walked her home and up to her apartment - to make sure there were no monsters. Then she asked me if she could come over to watch general conference at my house on Saturday, since all her roommates were going out of town, which I later found out to be a lie.
She came over and we played with Knex together. Then I thought it would be funny to pretend to get engaged, so I proposed to her with a ring made out of Knex. I called my mom and told her, but Rachel wouldn't let me tell hers. Then we went on a six hour date, picked stuff out for our "future home", and went skittle bowling. From that point on we were together every chance we got...

The Engagement Story

John and I got engaged on a Sunday. He came and picked me up for church (we happened to be matching that day) and took me for a long walk early in the morning. When church was over he told me he had plans for us for that night so I should keep the evening free. We relaxed in my apartment with my roommates for a while, and suddenly John got a phone call. He ran out side to answer it *very suspicious* and when he came back in he told me to get my coat. It was about nine thirty and we were still dressed up in our church clothes. As we walked out to his car I asked where he was taking me, to which he replied "I'm going to teach you to dance." He drove me over to Smith park, where he had strung up the Gazebo with white lights. It was beautiful. I still thought that he was doing this just because and i started to tear up because no one had ever done something so sweet for me before. He walked me over to the Gazebo and placed his ipod into the speakers that he had hooked up. He put on Josh Groban and began to teach me how to waltz. The park was dark around us, and really quiet. It even began to rain a little. It was incredible. John was so patient with me, since I'm a horrible dancer [on top of that, he was the only thing I could focus on, my feet were on their own ; ) ].
Then the song list stopped and he asked me to go pick out a different song. As I looked through the songs, John quietly pulled out the ring. I had picked Jack Johnson's "Better Together" which was our song. We started dancing again and he pulled back as if he were going to spin me again. Suddenly, he bent down on one knee. I had no idea what was going on. It was as if the whole world started spinning around me. He pulled out the ring and looked up at me. He grabbed my hand and asked me to marry him. For a moment I couldn't say anything (Which I think freaked him out a little haha), but as soon as I could breath I said yes. He slipped the ring on my finger and kissed and hugged me. It was, by far, the greatest moment of my life.
